OssKin Offers the Best Custom Knee Brace Currently On The Market

Knee brace designed for knee pain and injuries

Osteoarthritis Burden

Osteoarthritis is one of the most common chronic diseases in Canada, affecting almost 13 percent of people. In the knee alone, there is a prevalence rate of almost nine percent.

Given these numbers, OssKin set out to offer a solution for the long-term relief of knee osteoarthritis for patients. OssKin differentiates itself from other players on the market by offering 3D orthotics that perfectly match the patient’s morphology. Osskin also uses Asymmotion™, a unique, asymmetrical hinge system to replicate the knee’s natural movement.

A 3D-Printed Knee Brace

OssKin supplies 3D-printed orthotics to provide adequate support for every morphology and avoid any migration of the orthotic down the leg or slippage on the knee joint thanks to its superior, customized fit and precise movement.

The materials used for 3D printing are robust yet lightweight, enabling us to offer orthotics weighing in at a mere 9.5 ounces. The light materials and narrow width make it easier for patients to wear the brace, which can easily be slipped on under pants or dresses.

From the clinician’s point of view, the 3D printing process saves time in designing the brace for each patient and provides a tailor-made fit.  Thanks to the digital process, delivery times are also reduced, allowing patients to access their brace faster for daily use and exercise.

Asymmotion™ Hinge System

OssKin has patented a unique Asymmotion™ hinge system. It follows the natural 3D kinematic movement of the knee, including the combined sagittal and frontal plane motions needed for the “screw home” mechanism, while protecting it and preventing it from excessive rotation.

It perfectly mimics this movement on both sides, preventing the ankle, hip, and other joints from compensating. The smooth, completely fluid, and natural movement helps reduce pain in other joints that may have been compensating for knee dysfunction. Each brace is unique and adapts to the patient’s morphology due to digital modeling. Its extremely low profile allows the patient to have a brace for every knee if required.
